News World Record Achieved: The most theatrical performances in 50 days Educational Charity Act 4 receives confirmation that they have set a new World Record after completing 51 shows in 51 venues in 50 days. The Record: Act 4 have set a new world record, after being confirmed as record holders by Guinness World Records™ for the most number of professional theatrical preformances in different venues in 50 days. Each venue had a minimum audience capacity of 300, with shows taking place in theatres, schools and churches across England and Wales, during June and July 2009. The show, which had to last just over 1 hour, was performed by the same team of three throughout. This team also had to set up and de-rig without assistance. During the last week of attempt the team had to perform 13 shows in order to set this new world record. "This is a really significant achivement for a small organisation; to plan, prepare and execute as many quality shows in so many different places to such a variety of audiences has been exceptional. The show has combined entertainment with a serious message about encouraging and motivating children to be a positive force in their communities. Despite the hard work it has been vastly rewarding to see audiences respond to the practical and relevant message we have shared and will continue to share as we seek to equip children to make a positive differences." Act4 and TFG Launch Time To Act
The Idea: This is a new approach to delivering assemblies, which allows us to draw on years of experience to create material and to train teams. We are working with volunteer organisation TFG (Time For God) to create a specific gap year opportunity open to national and international volunteers, who whould be hosted by churches or Chritian organisations in the UK. Pilot: This year we are piloting the idea with the help of an organisation called Kickstart who are based in Rotherham. They intend to use these high quality assemblies to further the work they are doing in developing children's club. Challenge complete: 50 shows in 50 days in 50 different venues! Educational Charity Act 4 was performing ‘Star Citizen’ to public audiences around the country in a non-stop tour from the 1st June – 20th July 2009

February 2009 Act 4 wins a national NCVO competition for free consultancy support which we received in February. This was a great encouragement and boost as we seek to position the charity for the future. Zimbabwe Project Help us support Zimbabwe! As part of our vision to equip primary aged children with the knowledge and skills to make a positive difference to the world around them, we aim to provide practical opportunities for children and young people to relieve poverty and/or sickness within their communities and around the world. Presently, we are encouraging the children we work with to help us show support to children in the impoverished country of Zimbabwe. Act 4 has recently published its first book for children, What’s Jesus Like? In return for a small donation (£4), children can have a copy of the book for themselves but also sign a copy with a personal message, which we will then send out to Zimbabwe (for £2 they could just simply sign a book). Our friends working in Zimbabwe say that a small show of support like this could make a huge difference to the children there. The schools we will be sending the books to are in the area of Gweru in central Zimbabwe and will include: St. Mark's an Anglican Mission School where a third of the children are orphans.
Mandindindi, a Government School which serves children from very poor, rural backgrounds and many of them are orphans.
Midlands Christian College, which seeks to offer a standard of education comparable to primary schools in the UK, but in the present climate this is very hard to achieve.
This project not only introduces children in the UK to a major problem facing our world, but it also provides them with an opportunity to support other children. The money raised will be used to cover the cost of the book sent to Zimbabwe and to further the work of Act 4 as we look to build on the success that we have had so far. If you are interested in having this project in your school or church, please feel free to contact us at 01701 665551 or mail to luisa@act4.org.uk.
